WHAT CUSTOMERS ARE SAYING
“What I've learned about Deanna is that when she sees a need, she puts her heart and soul into filling it. She believes wholeheartedly in what she does, and she is enduring and patient until her goal is achieved. It's been an honor, knowing her. (: Tammi Brannan” June 8, 2012 Instinctive Life.com
Hospital Liaison
My Friend, Alan, who lived in Albany, OR had been complaining of a low grade pain in his chest for several months. Alan's doctors saw Alan several times and told him repeatedly that he had old age indigestion and continuously prescribed milk of magnesia.
After this had gone on for several months I called Nurse Deanna to discuss the situation. She asked if Alan would like her to visit. Alan readily agreed. One evening Nurse Deanna visited. She said, " Alan, I think that you should be in a hospital. Would you like me to take you to the VA or would you like to go to a Eugene hospital. Alan chose Eugene.
Nurse Deanna went with him to all his tests and interpreted to him what the doctor said. It was found that Alan had terminal lung cancer with a few months to live, not indigestion. She visited us often in the hospital explaining procedures and encouraging questions. After returning to Albany, Nurse Deanna helped Alan set up Hospice services. She explained in plain English what Hospice provided. And was available for many calls when we were not sure about the Hospice medication and the advancing pain and visited us in Albany when we were overwhelmed and needing help. I have found Nurse Deanna to be courteous, efficient and effective. Alan's Partner

After a simple outpatient surgical procedure, Deanna came to pick me up and take me home. Every time I stood up, I got nauseated and couldn't keep food down. Deanna stayed with me and suggested I ask to be admitted overnight. I agreed although it took some convincing to the hospital staff. Having Deanna available to reinforce my needs and choice was valuable. Finally with enough time by morning my nausea was over Deanna drove me home, filled my pain medication prescribed and made sure I had what I needed within reach once home. If it weren't for Deanna, I would have been home alone all night sick and weak. Thank you Deanna for assessing the situation and supporting me in my need. GH age 70
As a single older lady living alone, Deanna RN checks in with me often. During one of these conversations she asked how I was doing; I told her "not well"! I have had the flu all week and have vomited so much that I now have the dry heaves and am so weak that I can hardly crawl to the bathroom."
Deanna asked me how she can get into my house to help. My answer was, "my bedroom window" Deanna was at my window and lifted out my screen and I passed her the house keys. Deanna quickly could tell that I was very sick and asked if she could take me to the emergency room. I agreed.
After securing the window, she got me some water to drink, rolled me onto a blanket and dragged the blanket and me to the front door and got me into the car.
At the hospital Deanna got a wheelchair, found a more secluded area in the waiting room, got warmed blankets from the receptionist and stayed with me. It was nice to have an advocate when I was too ill to speak for myself. Deanna provided individualized care all night in my hospital room and the next day drove me home.
I had not wanted to bother anyone about my illness. Nurse Deanna may have saved my life. G.H., age 70

Doctor Visit Advocate
After I tore up my knee skiing, I needed medical assistance. Rent A Nurse was there when I needed her. Not only did Deanna take care of me and my medical needs but also coordinated my household and reassured me that my 5 children were being taken care of. I ended up getting an obscure infection and needed a central line and 6 weeks of continual IV antibiotics. Deanna escorted me to many medical appointments reassuring me that what was happening was procedural and really helped me understand the process. It was nice having her with me. She was kind, compassionate and knowledgeable. D.K., age 45
After I was told I had lung cancer I was very confused. I didn't think I wanted Chemo and radiation but how was I going to explain that to my family. Deanna went to the doctors appt. with me, took notes, and asked me if I had heard the word emphysema before, as the doctor had mentioned. I had not. Upon questioning the doctor about the emphysema he commented that the emphysema was really bad and I would probably pass away from that before the slow growing tumor in my lungs. No only did Deanna break out in columns what my four options were, I now had the talking point to give to my family. Thank you Deanna for taking the time to help me understand what was going on. Dressing Change Assistant
I had gross and yucky lower leg cellulitis which had become infected. After seeing the doctor it was decided that my husband would do my wound cleaning and redressing daily. Well, lets just say, he is not a nurse. I felt like I was inconveniencing him and he got less and less patient. The dressings were dry and sticking and it was very painful. Rent a Nurse to the rescue! Deanna patiently and gently removed the old dressing, washed my legs and redressed them with such compassion and skill that I knew I was in good hands. Sometimes family members, as loving as they are, just don't have the touch. My legs are healed and my relationship with my husband is intact. Rent A Nurse saved the day. S.D age 65
Dad moved down from Washington 2 weeks ago and it was time for his lower leg dressing changes. Home health would not be able to see him for 2 more weeks. Rent A Nurse came out that evening and changed the dressings on his legs and reassured us that they legs were looking really good. Now that's what I call service.
Medication Manager
After my stroke I was taking a lot of pills and it was overwhelming. Deanna came to my home and straighten out my medications and put them in a weekly reminder box for about two months until my brain was better and my many medication were reduced. Thank you Rent-A-Nurse. BG
I noticed my adult schizophrenic son had good and bad days. When I tried to count his medication to see if he was taking them correctly, he would get mad. I contacted Rent-A-Nurse and they installed a Philips Medication Machine and now he is really consistent with his medications and is much clearing in his thinking. Thank you Rent A Nurse.
I needed eye surgery but the surgeon did not trust me to get my five different eye drops done correctly and refused to do my surgery unless I found a nurse to put n the drops correctly. After a lot of calls we were referred to Rent-A-Nurse. Deanna came to my home three times a day, seven days a week for six weeks and gave me the appropriate drops. My surgery was a success. I am so glad I found a nurse that is able to accommodate my needs. RG age 87
I am a veteran who has a debilitating disease. Rent a Nurse assisted me in getting a Phillips Medication Dispenser. This machine talks to me and tells me when it is time to take my medication, check my blood sugar and take my insulin. I push a button and a cup full of medication is dispensed. How easy.
If I miss a dose the machine calls Rent a Nurse and they follow up with me. Since I take many medications (36 pills over 5 times a day) this system has provided me with ease in taking my medication. Taking the medication as indicated makes me more compliant and clearer. Rent a Nurse also refills the machine every 10 days and when I have a medication change is always available the same day to change the dosing. Deanna is always kind, patient and compassionate. R.M., age 64

Diabetes Preceptor
Rent-A- Nurse came to our home and sat with us the first few times I did my blood sugar and insulin, what a relief. Yes, and now it is easy but having her there and available by phone whenever we were unsure was a god send. Thank you Deanna
My Mom is so forgetful and does not record her blood sugars correctly. Her numbers are usually high so the doctor was thinking about adjusting her Insulin. Deanna sits with Mom while she does her process and records whether she has eaten or it is truly fasting. This gives the doctor accurate information about what her insulin doses should be and gives us peace of mind that Mom is well taken care of. Son
Case Manager
After my Dad moved here from another state we realized we were in over our heads. So many appointments and changes and Dad's memory was failing fast. We hired Deanna to coordinate and transport Dad to all of his doctors appointments, fill any needed medications and deliver home. Deanna also provided us with a detailed report of what happened at the Doctors appointment and when the next appointments were due. Deanna also helped us figure out questions to ask the Doctor to get a sore on Dads foot healed. Deanna sure thinks outside the box and within six weeks the sore, problematic for eight years, was healed. Thank you Deanna for suggesting ideas to the Doctor that facilitated in Dad's healing. HY
When I had surgery on both my hips Deanna was my go to gal. Not only did she help me understand the process, arrange to be admitted the night before surgery so I would feel comfortable after surgery and postpone my discharge from the Saturday of Labor day weekend to the Tuesday after the holiday. She also arranged private caregivers to assist me in the hospital and the rehab center so I could do more walking than what my insurance paid for and physical therapy had time for. At my six week follow-up with my surgeon he was amazed at my progress and said I was way ahead of schedule. Thanks to Deanna my surgery and recovery was effortless.
End of Life Steward
Living so far out of town made it difficult for hospice to accommodate our Dads end of life needs. Deanna was recommended to us through the agency that was providing caregivers. Since Dad was close to passing and we were in unfamiliar territory, We lucked out when Deanna offered to be part of the team in the home. She stayed with us for 30 hours, monitoring Dad and assisting the caregivers when needed and reassuring us that things were progressing naturally. As we were sitting at Dads bedside reminiscing when Deanna softly shared with us that Dad had passed. Deanna's presence through the process was amazing. Thanks for making this process peaceful. Son, Craig
Nurse Deanna was available to help us when my husband's life was ending. She took the night shift sitting up with him, catering to his needs, holding his hand and repositioning him for comfort. We felt safe and confident with her in our home. We really needed the sleep but did not want him dying alone. She gently woke us when he passed and was available with our every need in preparation. Thanks Deanna Helen, age 82
Foot and Toenail Specialist
I am amazed what Deanna can do with toe nails. I had not had mine cut in two years since someone said they were ingrown and I had to go to a podiatrist. Deanna and her Dremel had them in shape in about 20 minutes, oh they feel so much better. Now she sees me every 7 weeks in my home. The best part is the foot massage at the end. MC age 72
While having my toe nails clipped by Deanna at a local senior center she noticed round splotches on my legs. She recommend I follow up with my Primary Care Physician thinking it was ring worm. Sure enough it was. Simple pills and now it is clear. I wonder how long I have had it. It is really important to me to have a nurse do my nails. She touches my heart through my feet and she helps trouble shoot concerns and makes recommendations.
Not only does Deanna do Nail care but she also takes care of my painful corns and callous'. My feet feel so good, especially after the nice foot rub. I highly recommend Deanna and her skillful hands.
I have had a sore on the tip of my toe for many years due to a hammer toe. Deanna assisted me with meeting not one but two podiatrists. The first podiatrist was lazy about caring for my problem. The second one recommended a procedure to fix the hammer toe and subsequence healing of the toe. Thank you Deanna for you insight and caring.
